New-Age Negroni
2016-04-14Ingredients
- 1 oz. Modern-Style Dry Gin (like North Shore No. 6)
- 1 oz. Sweet Vermouth (like Vya or Ransom)
- 1 oz. Tempus Fugit Gran Classico
- Add all ingredients, with ice, to a mixing glass. Stir to chill and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with an orange twist.
Our New-Age Negroni is simply your classic Negroni made with newfangled ingredients – giving you a totally reminiscent, yet delightfully different cocktail. Using Tempus Fugit’s Gran Classico instead of the traditional Campari provides a bitter element that, though just as bitter, is less sharp. It also imparts a broader spectrum of flavor, with brighter notes of orange peel and rhubarb. We prefer New-World sweet vermouths like the flavor-bomb that is Vya, or Ransom, with its complex vegetal component. As you may know, we love the Negroni. We have a fetish for tweaking it – either slightly, as we did here, or more brazenly, as in our Barrel-Aged Negroni, Leathered Negroni, White Negroni, Oaxacan Negroni, Bony Negroni, Spumoni Negroni, and our No way, No How! Learn about the history of the Negroni by watching our Cocktail College video on it. Cheers!
