Crushed Ice & Lewis Bag
We’re not quite certain who Lewis is, but we love his bag! When you’re Julep recipe calls for crushed ice, this is what you need. Fill the bag with ice, give it a few whacks, and “violà!” We prefer using a large carpentry joiner’s mallet as it has a nice-sized flat head. When looking for a bag, choose one made from thick (very thick) canvas. As you whack away and the ice melts, the water will get absorbed by the canvas. When you’re ready, you’ll scoop out perfectly crushed ice, free of liquid water. Cheers!
