Anguish & Regret

- 1 oz. Tequila
- ¼ oz. Mezcal
- ½ oz. Malort (or Besk/ Bäsk)
- ½ oz. Grenadine
- ½ oz. Fresh Lime Juice
- ¼ oz. Agave Nectar
- Add all ingredients, with ice, to a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a coupe glass or an ice-filled rocks glass. Garnish with a Lime Wheel (optional).
We enjoyed this delicious cocktail at Nostrano in Madison, WI. Complex and sweet, yet tart and bitter with a mysterious hint of smoke (from the Mezcal). Though great on it’s own, we love this cocktail with greasy Mexican food like queso fundido or chorizo tacos. A freaky Margarita, we reverse engineered it and tweaked it a bit by adding a hint of sweetness with just a taste of agave nectar. Where we would normally use Cointreau in our margaritas to make them “sing,” here we have the bitter Malort (Besk) which makes the margarita weep. Cheers!
