  • *See our Mint Simple Syrup recipe/video.

The Original Mint Julep is only a tad more complicated than the Mint Julep we typically make, and utilizes brandy in place of bourbon. This is Jerry Thomas’ recipe, excepting that we prefer to use mint simple syrup instead of stirring and dissolving granulated sugar and muddling mint for each serving. We enjoy the many variations of the Mint Julep, including the Ginger Julep, Elderflower Julep, and Rhubarb Julep. Offer them all at your Kentucky Derby party where you’ll find that using the mint simple syrup makes your life much easier! If you want to make a single drink for yourself, just stir in a tablespoon of sugar with the cognac and brandy, muddle some mint, and you’ll be good to go! Cheers!
