Smoky Tamarind Margarita

2013-08-16

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz Mezcal
  • ½ oz Lime Juice
  • ½ oz Agave Nectar
  • ½ tsp Tamarind Paste

  • Shake the mescal, lime juice, agave nectar, and tamarind paste, with ice, in a Boston Shaker. Strain into an Old-Fashioned Glass over one ice cube.

  • Garnish with a Lime Wheel.

This complex blend of smoky mezcal along with the sweet, sour, figgy taste of the tamarind means you can have it both ways. It’s the smoky taste of Oaxaca with the sweet and sour perfumes of Southeast Asia. Although, the tamarind is actually indigenous to Sudan, it was cultivated thousands of years ago throughout Southeast Asia and then heavily introduced to Mexico in the 16th century. So maybe it is just simply the smoky, sweet and sour taste of Mexico after all… We’ll let you decide!
