Rose Syrup

2013-10-20

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 2 cups Water
  • Petals from 6 Roses (about 2 cups) that are very fragrant and pesticide free

  • In a sauce pan, bring the sugar and water to a boil, stirring occasionally. Once dissolved (about 3 minutes), remove from the heat and stir in the rose petals. Allow to cool overnight in the refrigerator. Strain into a clean stoppered bottle or jar and store in the refrigerator for up to 6 weeks. (Makes about 2½ cups).

A syrup by any other name would still be as sweet. Well, that’s because syrups by their nature are sweet but this one is extra nice because of the roses. The key here is to get very fragrant pesticide free roses from your garden or maybe the neighbors.
