Muscovado Margarita

2015-02-17

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz. Mezcal
  • 1¼ oz. Fresh Lime Juice
  • ¾ oz. Dry Curaçao (or other Orange Liqueur)
  • ½ oz. Muscovado Simple Syrup*

  • Add all ingredients, with ice, to a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a curly lime string.

  • *See our Muscovado Simple Syrup recipe/video.

This is a deep, rich, sophisticated, smoky margarita with a huge flavor profile. The Muscovado Simple Syrup provides deep molasses notes with light floral, dried fruit, toffee, and smoky tones, which are compounded alongside the Mezcal. We normally love Cointreau in our margaritas, but here we want the deeper, richer, molassessy notes from the muscovado syrup to come through, so we choose the less sweeter dry curacao (or triple sec) instead. Check out the other cocktails we create which utilize the Muscovado Simple Syrup, and enjoy. Cheers!.
