2015-06-24Ingredients
- 2 oz. Japanese Whisky
- ½ oz. Orgeat*
- 2 dashes Bittercube Trinity Bitters
- ½-⅔ Vanilla Bean
- Add the Whisky, Orgeat, and Bitters, with ice, to a mixing glass and stir to chill. Strain into an Old Fashioned Glass and garnish with ½-⅔ of a vanilla bean, cut axially.
- *See our Orgeat recipe/video or use commercially available Orgeat.
Our contemporary take Jerry Thomas’ 1862 Japanese Cocktail, which had nothing Japanese in it! Our modern version utilizes a rich, subtly smoky, Japanese whisky to grand effect. This hint of smoke marries well with the rich sweetness of the orgeat, the bright notes form the bitters, and the intriguing vanilla suggestions as the pulp leeches from the vanilla bean. Complex, seductive, and divine! Enjoy!
