Mexican Negroni

2016-06-25

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. Silver Tequila
  • ½ oz. Mezcal
  • 1½ oz. Campari
  • 1½ oz. Sweet Vermouth

  • Add all ingredients, with ice, to a mixing glass. Stir to chill and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with an orange twist.

Here is a delightful south-of-the-border version of the classic Negroni. We use tequila and mezcal in place of the traditional gin. The tequila gives it’s flavorful edge while the mezcal provides the smoke that pairs so nicely with the rindy-bitterness of the Campari. The sweetness and deeper bitter elements of the sweet vermouth round out this cocktail perfectly. This is our preferred recipe, but if you prefer it with a little more smoke, then use ¾ oz. each of the tequila and mezcal. If you’re fond of this cocktail, be certain to check out our Oaxacan Negroni. Cheers!
