Johnny Collins

2013-08-09

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Bourbon (~100 proof)
  • 1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • ¾ oz Rock Candy (or Rich Simple) Syrup
  • 2 oz Club Soda
  • 1 Mint Sprig

  • Stir the bourbon, lemon juice, rock candy (or rich simple) syrup and mint leafs with ice in a mixing glass. Add 4 ice cubes to a Collins Glass. Simultaneously strain the contents of your mixing glass and pour the club soda over the ice.

  • Garnish with a Mint Stalk.

Substitute bourbon for gin and your Tom Collins becomes the Johnny Collins! Named after John Barleycorn, a traditional nickname for bourbon (and the title of bourbon-lover Jack London’s autobiography) this cocktail pairs the elegance of bourbon with the fun of lemonade to produce one darn delicious warm-weather drink!
