Ground Cherry Martini

  • 2 oz Gin
  • 1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1 oz Basil Syrup*
  • 10 Ground Cherries

  • Add the ground cherries and gin to the glass of a Boston Shaker. Vigorously muddle the cherries. Add the remaining ingredients, with ice, and shake to chill. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with skewered ground cherries.

  • *See our Basil Syrup recipe/video.

We enjoy this delightful martini in late summer when ground cherries are in season. Ground cherries have a consistency similar to a grape tomato, but are very sweet (like a cross between a grape and a tomato). The ground cherries provide the sweet, fresh taste while the basil syrup adds a nice spice which really ties the whole thing together. If you like this, try our Ground Cherry Margarita and the other cocktails we make utilizing our Basil Syrup, such as the Basil Gimlet, Basil-Cucumber Gimlet, Caprese Martini, Pink Nebula and Super Nova. Cheers!
