Garibaldi
2016-02-10Ingredients
- 1½ oz. Campari
- 4 oz. Fresh Orange Juice
- Add all ingredients, with ice, to a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a huge old fashioned glass over a large ice cube. Garnish with an orange twist or a mint sprig.
Sometimes called a Campari-Orange Aperitivo or simply Campari-Orange, this is one of our favorite brunch cocktails and a great summertime sipper. Originally enjoyed in a bracingly bitter 1:1 ratio, today folks favor a significantly higher amount of OJ to make this cocktail pleasant and refreshing, while still keeping a notion of the rindy bitterness. The Garibaldi – named after Guiseppe Garibaldi, an Italian General and Politician who helped unify Italy in 1871 – combines Campari (from Italy’s north) with Oranges (from the south). This cocktail is a real delight! Enjoy!
