Aloe Vera Cosmo



  • 1½ oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Aloe Vera Gel*
  • 1½ oz Orange Juice
  • ¾ oz Cointreau
  • ¾ oz Rock Candy (or Rich Simple) Syrup

  • Vigorously muddle two 2"x3” pieces of peeled aloe vera leaf and strain through a fine mesh sieve to obtain the gel. Add the gel, vodka, orange juice, cointreau and rock candy (or rich simple) syrup to a Cocktail Shaker. Add ice, shake vigorously, and strain into a Martini Glass.

  • Garnish with an Aloe Vera Leaf tip.

Who would have thought that you could use Aloe Vera in a cocktail! It’s just not for lotion any more, baby! The pulp from the Aloe Vera leaf is edible and is a unique way to add a little bitter complexity to many types of cocktails. It is fun (and satisfying!) to muddle the translucent flesh and obtain the slimy gel you’ll use in your drink. The Aloe Vera gel also adds an interesting texture to the cocktail, as it thickens the liquid (a bit) providing a fun tactile sensation for your tongue and throat as you drink it. Enjoy!
