Tonka Old Fashioned2016-07-30
- 2 oz. Rye (90-proof)
- 1/3 oz. Tonka Bean Syrup*
- 1 dash Peychaud’s Bitters
- Add all ingredients, with ice, to a mixing glass. Stir to chill and strain into a double old-fashioned glass over a fresh ice cube. Top with grated Tonka Bean shavings.

Here is yet another tweak on the classic old fashioned. In this recipe we’re using our Tonka Bean Syrup in place of sugar. The beans provide flavors of vanilla-sugar, allspice, cinnamon, as well as, floral and dried fruit notes. We choose the more one-dimensional rye over bourbon to allow the incredible notes from the Tonka Syrup to shine. We prefer Peychaud’s biters for the same reason.
