Rum Old Fashioned2016-01-17
- 2 oz. Aged Rum
- ¼ oz. Muscovado Simple Syrup*
- 1 eyedropper Bittercube Cherry Bark Vanilla Bitters
- Add all ingredients, with ice, to a mixing glass. Stir to chill and strain into a Rocks glass over a large ice cube. Top with orange oil from the twist of an orange skin, discarding the peel.

This rich and sophisticated drink is what you want in your hand as you sit back in your easy chair and put your feet up. Use a nice aged rum as this cocktail is essentially a showcase for that. Though we often reach for the Bittercube blackstrap bitters with rum drinks, because we’re using the molasses-forward muscovado simple syrup, we find their Cherry Bark Vanilla bitters imparts a delightful contrast with its notes of vanilla and cocoa.
