Ingredients

  • 1 oz. Gin (or Vodka)
  • 1 oz. Dry Vermouth
  • 1 oz. Triple Sec

  • Add all ingredients, with ice, to a cocktail shaker or mixing glass. Shake or stir to chill and strain into a coupe or martini glass. Garnish with a quarter-sized disc of orange skin, after twisting it over the drink.

Chances are, you already have the three ingredients necessary to make this cocktail sitting in your liqueur cabinet. Created by Lee Clarke of Wolverhampton (England), this is a spirit-forward cocktail and a showcase for the gin. Lee’s original recipe calls for vodka and for the cocktail to be shaken, but you can certainly stir it as we do here. It is delightful with vodka; a Dutch Genever gives you the funky, buttery taste of that style of gin; and a London dry style gin accentuates the bright, sweet orange notes – from the triple sec – above the gin’s flowery botanicals. Drink these in moderation or you’ll discover they live up to their name! Cheers!
