White Negroni

2015-06-20

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz Gin
  • 1 oz Cocchi Americano
  • 1 oz Salers Aperitif

  • Add all ingredients, with ice, to a mixing glass. Stir to chill and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with an Orange Twist.

The White Negroni is a delicate, more feminine version of the classic Negroni. Instead of sweet vermouth, we substitute Cocchi Americano – that sweet, wine-based aperetivo sporting bitter elements from cinchona bark and gentian. Replacing the classic Negroni’s Campari with the Salers provides more sharp-edged gentian notes which is a nice counterpoint to the botanical gin and overall sweetness provided by the aperitifs. We finish it with some bright citrus hints from an orange twist and the dull bitter component the rind adds as we drop it into the drink. This is light, complex, and wonderful. Enjoy!
