New-Age Negroni

2016-04-14

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. Modern-Style Dry Gin (like North Shore No. 6)
  • 1 oz. Sweet Vermouth (like Vya or Ransom)
  • 1 oz. Tempus Fugit Gran Classico

  • Add all ingredients, with ice, to a mixing glass. Stir to chill and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with an orange twist.

Our New-Age Negroni is simply your classic Negroni made with newfangled ingredients – giving you a totally reminiscent, yet delightfully different cocktail. Using Tempus Fugit’s Gran Classico instead of the traditional Campari provides a bitter element that, though just as bitter, is less sharp. It also imparts a broader spectrum of flavor, with brighter notes of orange peel and rhubarb. We prefer New-World sweet vermouths like the flavor-bomb that is Vya, or Ransom, with its complex vegetal component. As you may know, we love the Negroni. We have a fetish for tweaking it – either slightly, as we did here, or more brazenly, as in our Barrel-Aged NegroniLeathered NegroniWhite NegroniOaxacan NegroniBony NegroniSpumoni Negroni, and our No way, No How! Learn about the history of the Negroni by watching our Cocktail College video on it. Cheers!
