  • ½ oz. Campari
  • 1 oz. Pineapple Juice

  • Add all ingredients, with ice, to a cocktail shaker. Shake hard and strain into a margarita or coupe glass. Garnish with a lime wheel or pineapple wedge.

This is our smoky take on the Jungle Bird Cocktail. While the Jungle Bird relies on rum, here we’re going with mezcal to make our Flipping the Bird. Uitzilopochtli (from the early natives to what is now Mexico), translates to: Hummingbird of the South, though some scholars believe it more accurately translates to Hummingbird Wizard or Hummingbird Spirit. Hummingbirds often nest amongst the spikes of the agave plant from which tequila and mezcal are made. It was thought that the bird – fluttering rapidly out of the plant’s spikes – was the spirit of the highly regarded agave plant. The plant which gave them “the drink that leaves its sting behind,” lets us Flip-Off the Jungle Bird and elevate this flavor-packed cocktail to a whole new level. Cheers!
