Basil Syrup

2013-10-20

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 2 cups Water
  • 4 oz (about 2 cups) Fresh Basil

  • In a sauce pot, bring the sugar and water to a boil, stirring occasionally. Allow to boil for about 60 seconds. Remove from the heat and add the basil. Let the leaves steep for 30 minutes, before removing. Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature and strain into a clean stoppered bottle. Store in the refrigerator for up to 6 weeks. (Makes about 2½ cups.)
