Whiskey Sour

2013-08-09

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Whiskey
  • ¾ oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • ¾ oz Simple Syrup

  • Stir the whiskey, lemon juice and simple syrup with ice in a mixing glass. Strain into an Old-Fashioned Glass.

  • Garnish with an Orange Wheel or Brandied Cherries.

Being whiskey snobs, there is no better way to enjoy a dram than straight or with a dash of water to enhance the flavor. Yet, some might say, “The sweet, is never as sweet, without the sour.” The sour of choice in this case is lemon and it is the best option for this drink. Or is it?… Sometimes the sour could be lime or even acid phosphate, but let’s not create a debate over it. That would have people taking sides and asking others, “Are you lemon or are you lime? No, I am acid phosphate!” And grandma would chime in and say, “Back in my day we were raised on orange marmalade, and where the hell is Tamarind, anyway!?!”
