Tamarind Whiskey Sour

2013-08-12

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Bourbon or Whiskey
  • ½ oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • ½ tsp Tamarind Paste
  • ¾ oz Light Agave Nectar

  • Shake the bourbon (or whiskey), lime juice, tamarind paste and agave nectar with ice in a Boston Shaker. Strain into an Old-Fashioned Glass.

  • We typically don't garnish this drink, but feel free to throw in a lime skin if you wish to add a little color.

Grab your thesaurus, because this is such a great drink that you might find yourself at a loss for words. (And no, a thesaurus is not your pet dinosaur.) The tamarind adds some extra fun and complexity that goes well with the sour of the lime and the light sweetness of the agave nectar. The Japanese make awesome whiskeys and adding the tamarind is a great way to finish off an unusual Asian treat inspired by the American South. Of course, whiskey from any country will work so mix it up and enjoy the variety they bring to this wonderful drink.
