Rum & Coke

Ingredients

  • 6 oz Mexican Coca-Cola
  • 2 oz Rum

  • Pour out 2 ounces of coca-cola from an 8 ounce bottle. Add 2 ounces of rum and recap the bottle. Chill on ice or in the refrigerator. When ready to serve, uncap and pour salted peanuts in the bottle to float.

Cocktail snobs will roll their eyes and let out a long exasperating sigh if someone utters the word “coke” in the same sentence as the word “rum.” We’re not snobs, of course, so it doesn’t phase us in the least! We prefer, however, to make our Rum & Coke a little differently – the cocktaildudes way! Best with Mexican Coke (made with real cane sugar), we prefer to drink it straight from the chilled bottle – adding some peanuts for a salty and crunchy component that will add a whole new dimension to this simple, classic combination.
