Oaxaca Old Fashioned2014-07-16
- 1½ oz Tequila
- ½ oz Mezcal
- ¼ oz Agave Nectar
- 1 dash Angostura Bitters
- Shake all ingredients, with ice, in a Cocktail Shaker. Strain over ice in an Old Fashioned Glass.
- Garnish with a Flaming Orange Peel.
Though simple to make, this fantastic cocktail (created by Philip Ward) really delivers with it’s complex and interesting taste. Far from a Margarita – with the absence of citrus – this drink is truly a showcase for the tequila and mezcal. We enjoy using a mezcal that is produced in the mountainous regions of Oaxaca using tobala pina. Smaller and sweeter than the more common and larger blue agave pina, these mezcals bring a delicate, sweet, and smoky note to this wonderful cocktail.
