Nasturtium Margarita

2014-09-16

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Tequila
  • 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • ¾ oz Agave Nectar
  • ¼ oz Cointreau
  • 10 Nasturtium Leaves (torn into quarters)

  • Muddle the Nasturtium leaves with the tequila in the glass of a Boston Shaker. Add the remaining ingredients, with ice, and shake vigorously. Strain into a margarita glass and garnish with a Nasturtium flower.

This Margarita was inspired by a salad we had at a local restaurant (Odd Duck): fried green tomatoes with nasturtium leaf puree. We grow and use nasturtium flowers to garnish many cocktails, but never thought to use the leaf in a cocktail. The leaf gives you a nice spicy peppery bite. So grab some leaves and your muddler and make this beautiful vibrant green spicy summer sipper. Check out our Nasturtium Gimlet and if you’re really into spice, mix up our Stockholm Syndrome. Cheers!
