El Diablo

2013-09-06

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz Tequila
  • ½ oz Crème de Cassis
  • ½ oz fresh Lime Juice
  • 3 oz Ginger Beer

  • Stir the tequila, crème de cassis, and lime juice with ice in a Mixing Glass. Add the ginger beer and strain into a Double Old Fashioned Glass.

  • Garnish with a Lime Wheel to float.

This delicious classic from the 1940’s is one of the original tequila cocktails and was created in southern California around the time of the Moscow Mule. This delightful cocktail also makes use of ginger beer, but provides complexity that the Moscow Mule can’t touch. Enjoy this devilish cocktail and consider trying it alongside some Mexican cuisine instead of ordering a margarita the next time you sit down with some guacamole. If you enjoy it, be sure to try out its smoky cousin: The Dark Devil – El Diablo Oscuro.
