2015-07-11

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz. Aquavit
  • ¼ oz. Aperol
  • ¾ oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
  • ¾ oz. Calamintha Simple Syrup* **

  • Add all ingredients, with ice, to a Cocktail Shaker. Shake to chill and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish by floating Calamintha leaves.

  • *See our Calamintha Simple Syrup recipe/video.
  • **No Calamintha? Substitute our Oregano-Mint Simple Syrup.

Calamintha is a hardy herb native to Italy where it is both cultivated and grows wild. It is used to flavor savory meat dishes, sauces, and marinades. Here we use it to flavor the syrup we will use in our Aquavit Sour. This cocktail is a real delight! The caraway-forward aquavit marries well with the sweet mint and pepper notes from the syrup and tart citrus. Learn how to make Calamintha Simple Syrup and check out the other Calamintha Cocktails we have made so far. If you have a difficult time getting your hands on some Calamintha, you can substitute our Oregano-Mint Simple Syrup. Cheers!
