Kiwi Margarita

2014-04-19

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Tequlia
  • 1 Kiwi (peeled)
  • ½ oz fresh Lime Juice
  • ½ oz Cointreau
  • ½ oz Agave Nectar

  • Vigorously muddle the kiwi in the glass of a Boston Shaker. Add the tequila, lime juice, cointreau, and agave nectar with ice and shake. Strain into an Margarita Glass.

  • Garnish with a Kiwi Slice.

This delightful margarita utilizes the Kiwi fruit, not the bird. Muddling an endangered species can be problematic, and the drink probably wouldn’t even be all that tasty, what with having to pick bones and feathers from between your teeth after each sip… The Chinese Gooseberry wasn’t a very popular name for this gem of a fruit and sales didn’t appreciate until it was renamed the “kiwi” after the country from which we import most of the fruit today (New Zealand). This beautiful emerald-green margarita is sweet, lively, and refreshing. If you enjoy it, be certain to check out its cousin, our Kiwi Mojito. Cheers!
