Angostura Milkshake

2015-01-18

Ingredients

  • 1¼ oz Angostura Bitters
  • 1 oz Falernum*
  • 5 oz Vanilla Ice Cream (~1 cup)

  • Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a martini or wine glass and top with a dollop of whipped cream and add a straw.

  • *See our Falernum recipe/video or use a store-bought variety like John Taylor’s Velvet Falernum.

The Angostura Milkshake is one incredible ice-cream cocktail treat! It was inspired by the Angostura Sour, Trinidad Sour and our own Death in the Morning. It utilizes a crazy amount of Angostura Bitters, making this cold ice-cream drink a flavor explosion! We enjoy the sweet and bitter Angostura Milkshake year-round but when we serve it at the holidays, we re-name it Fa La La-lernum because of the sweet clove-centric syrup (falernum) we use to sweeten it. And yes, it does taste like Christmas. Check out our other Falernum cocktails and learn how to make Falernum at home. Cheers!
