This cocktail is essentially a Beer Flip. We take Three Floyd’s DARK LORD beer and shake that with an egg to create Satan’s Baby. Though it sounds dark and woeful, it is, in truth, a rather light-feeling, delightfully rich, velvety beer cocktail with wonderfully fragrant and spicy notes. Three Floyd’s DARK LORD is an Imperial Stout – oftentimes called a Russian Imperial Stout, being the rich, malty, brew favored by Catherine II’s Russian court. Adding Falernum and egg to an Imperial Stout really accentuates and draws out the vanilla, caramel, spice, and other complex notes of the dense beer. It makes for a fun, creamy, and very enjoyable beer cocktail. And although you should never shake a baby, when you shake this one, be certain to burp it initially as the pressure from shaking the egg will build up in your Cocktail Shaker.
